Let's face it, we're not going back to flip phones and creating authentic videos - technology is moving in one direction, into your life.
The average American spends over 7 hours a day in front of digital screens. That’s a lot of time not spent making real world connections or grounding yourself in quiet.
This constant connectivity can turbo-drive productivity into burnout, reduce time spent outdoors, and simply limit how much your own mind charts the course of your thoughts
I recommend a Regular Reality Check.
Have you set boundaries? Schedule regular screen-free times, such as during meals, before bed, or while spending time with family and friends.
Do you use technology intentionally? Regularly consider which apps and devices support your health and happiness goals—don’t just use them out of habit.
Are you paying attention to how you feel? Notice how different types of tech use affect your outlook on life. Does certain content energize you or drain you?
Do you take tech breaks? Step outside, stretch, or engage in offline activities to recharge your mind and body.
Are you in charge of what's next? Don’t be afraid to question or override automated suggestions. Trust your judgment and values.
Enjoy the benefits of tech without burning out or losing out on real world opportunities. Take a Regular Reality Check, talk through your challenges with your counselor. Rest assured that technology is overwhelming for many of us!
